Surrounded by the 12 Bens in Connemara National Park, Co Galway, Derryclare Lake is a rare gem. I was hoping for a cloudless day and island reflections but I think no matter what the weather this spot holds a certain fascination.

They are beautiful but even more so when autumn arrives and the outer layer decomposes back to it's vein like structure leaving the berry inside visible.
